The XentraX threaded cup

The cementless XentraX cup is equipped with a patented self-cutting trapezoid thread (Pat. EP 1061867) on the spherical outer shell. This thread type allows a substantially easier screwing of the cup with respect to comparable threaded cup systems [1].

The handling of the cup is very easy. You have only two setting instruments for all 12 sizes of the cup.

The opening at the bottom of the cup allows an optical control of the correct depth of insertion and enables, when necessary, a subsequent relining with cancellous bone material.The bottom of the cup is tightly closed with a simple-to-handle patented bottom closure of pure titanium (EP 1441673).

It‘s possible to use ballheads with 36mm diameter from cup size 50 with ceramic liners. From cup size 54 it‘s possible to use 40 ballheads in ceramic. The bigger ballheads increase the ROM of the cup, which ends up to more mobility for the patient.

  • Material: The XentraX threaded cup consists of pure titanium ISO 5832-2.
  • Surface roughness of the prosthesis: The surface of the XentraX threaded cup is corundum-blasted an has a roughness of 4-6 µm. This results in good secondary stability and quick osteointegration of the bone to the implant.
  • Cup shape: Due to the spherical and easily flattened cup shape, combined with a further-developed thread, the cup has a very high level of primary stability.
  • Size classification: The product line offers 12 sizes, from a diameter 46 to 68 mm.
  • Cup insert: Starting with size 50 it is possible to use ceramic inserts for 36 mm ball heads and from size 54 it is possible to use 40 mm ball heads. Ceramic inserts of 32, 36 and 40 mm are available. The PE inserts each in standard and dyplasia – model 28 and 32 mm.
  • Cup bottom The cup bottom is open and allows an optical check for correct seating after the cup is turned in and in individual cases, it is also possible to add a sub-lining with spongious bone material. With an easy-to-position cover made of titanium, the cup is then closed and is flush.
